Guesting on a podcast, recording a video chat with three of my favorite people, and other fun activities are adding a lively finish to what has been a rather quiet year for me.
Ready, Test, Go!
I had the honor of guesting on the Ready, Set Go! podcast with host David Carty to talk about holistic testing and the culture of quality. David asked so many great questions that really made me stop and think. It was such a wonderful opportunity to discuss how the software world is evolving with respect to quality and testing.
Chatting with Janet, Seb and Gáspár
Janet Gregory and I record a ~15 minute episode of our Donkeys & Dragons video chat every month, usually with an amazing guest, to chat about a wide range of topics related in some way to holistic testing and testers/QEs. December is extra special because we had TWO amazing guests! Seb Rose and Gáspár Nagy talked with us about their long-awaited new book, Effective Behavior-Driven Development. I’ve been proud of the monthly Agile Testing Fellowship newsletter that Janet and I write every month. It’s fun to brainstorm what new-to-us thoughts to share with subscribers. As with our video chats, I think December’s issue was an especially good one. Janet shared some keen insights on relationships – a relevant topic with the holidays coming up. We also shared some of our favorite articles, books and videos by other practitioners, as our holiday gift to subscribers. And here’s a teaser for something I will share soon. Jen Cook and I facilitated a workshop on quality engineering at Agile Testing Days in November. Working in groups of four, our participants did a couple of brainstorming exercises to come up with their ideas on what quality engineering is, what skills a quality engineer needs, and how to get those skills. Jen and I are going to compile all the best ideas and share them in a blog post. Watch this space!
